Billing Details

Payment Methods

  • Credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover)
  • ACH / Bank transfer (Enterprise only, requires annual commitment)

Billing Cycle

  • Monthly: Billed on the same day each month (e.g., if you sign up on Jan 15, you're billed on the 15th of each month)
  • Annual: Pay for 12 months upfront, get 2 months free (save ~17%)

Prorated Charges

If you upgrade mid-billing cycle, you're charged a prorated amount for the remainder of the cycle.

Example: You're on Starter ($29/month) and upgrade to Growth ($99/month) on day 15 of a 30-day cycle. You'll pay:

  • $99 - $29 = $70 difference
  • $70 × (15 days / 30 days) = $35 prorated charge

Your next full bill will be $99 at the start of your next billing cycle.

Refunds

  • Free trial: Cancel anytime, no charge
  • Monthly: No refunds, but you can cancel anytime (access continues until end of billing period)
  • Annual: No refunds, but you can cancel anytime (access continues until end of annual period)

Cancellation

To cancel:

  1. Go to Settings → Billing
  2. Click "Cancel Plan"
  3. Confirm cancellation
  4. Your access continues until the end of your current billing period
  5. No further charges will be made

Team Member Limits

What counts as a "user":

  • Anyone with an active account in your workspace
  • Includes both admins and members
  • Does not include archived/deactivated users

If you hit your limit: You'll be prompted to upgrade or remove a user before inviting new ones.

Overage policy:

  • Free plan: Hard limit (can't exceed)
  • Paid plans: Soft limit (can exceed for 7 days, then required to upgrade)

Workspace Limits

What's a workspace: A separate environment with its own team, cards, and settings.

Why multiple workspaces:

  • Separate client projects
  • Different product lines
  • Staging vs. production
  • Different teams within your company

Workspace limits by plan:

  • Free: 1
  • Starter: 1
  • Growth: 3
  • Enterprise: Unlimited

How to Choose a Plan

Start with Free if:

  • You're just trying Distil
  • You're solo and have <50 pieces of feedback
  • You're not ready to commit financially

Choose Starter if:

  • You're a solo PM or small team (2-3 people)
  • You don't need governance/compliance features
  • You want unlimited cards
  • You're pre-revenue or early-stage

Choose Growth if:

  • You have a product team (4-10 people)
  • You need governance (Governance Pack)
  • You want to share a public roadmap (Visibility Pack)
  • You're scaling and need structure

Choose Enterprise if:

  • You have 50+ people in product org
  • You need SSO or SAML
  • You require SLA and dedicated support
  • You're in a regulated industry
  • You manage multiple products or workspaces

Upgrading

To upgrade:

  1. Go to Settings → Billing
  2. Click "Upgrade Plan"
  3. Choose your plan
  4. Enter payment information
  5. Confirm

Changes take effect immediately.

Downgrading

To downgrade:

  1. Go to Settings → Billing
  2. Click "Change Plan"
  3. Choose a lower-tier plan
  4. Confirm

What happens:

  • Change takes effect at the end of your current billing period
  • You keep current features until then
  • If new plan has user limits, you'll need to remove users before downgrade takes effect

Data retention: All data is preserved. If you're over limits (e.g., more than 50 cards on Free plan), older cards become read-only but aren't deleted.

Do integrations (Jira, Linear) cost extra? No. Integrations are included in all plans.
